What is a Habit?
A habit is a routine or behavior that is repeated regularly and often occurs subconsciously. Habits form through a process called "habit loop," which consists of three key elements: the cue, the routine, and the reward. The cue triggers the habit, the routine is the behavior itself, and the reward reinforces the habit, making it more likely to be repeated.
Why Do We Fall Into Habits?

Our brains are wired to conserve energy and optimize efficiency. Once a behavior becomes a habit, it requires less cognitive effort, allowing us to perform tasks more efficiently. This is why we can drive the same route to work or brush our teeth without much thought.

Our environment and social circles play a significant role in shaping our habits. We often adopt habits from those around us, whether it's eating habits, exercise routines, or work behaviors. The people we surround ourselves with can either help us form positive habits or reinforce negative ones.

The more a behavior is repeated, the more ingrained it becomes. Consistency is key in habit formation. This is why small, repeated actions can lead to lasting habits, whether positive or negative.
5. Immediate Gratification:
Many habits are formed because they offer immediate rewards or gratification. For example, checking your phone frequently provides instant stimulation and social connection, making it a hard habit to break. The desire for instant rewards often outweighs the benefits of long-term gains, reinforcing the habit loop.
